How many years of experience do you have as a host/hotelier?
G Star Hotel was opened in 2022 and it is a newly built family hotel in which all family members are involved in the business and management. For now, there are two generations (parents and their children and spouses), and we hope that the third generation (grandchildren) will join us soon. 🙂 None of us have worked in tourism until now and all of us have successful careers in different fields (medicine, economy, banking, finance), but we are all happy to learn and gain new knowledge and experience in the hotel management and tourism sector.
Why did you choose to work in hospitality?
Given that we have been living by the sea for more than 30 years, the logical step was to invest the acquired capital in tourism, which despite all the challenges (coronavirus pandemic, war in Ukraine…) can be considered a profitable business.
What are the biggest challenges?
Considering that we have only been working in tourism since 2022, we do not have too much experience on the basis of which we could answer this question in more detail, but based on our experience so far, we could list the following as the biggest challenges: unstable health and geopolitical conditions, as well as difficulties in finding adequate work employees and coworkers.
What would you recommend to future hoteliers and our clients?
We would advise future colleagues to take care and be involved in all aspects of the operation of their accommodation facility, because only this way everything can function properly. Also, our philosophy is not to maximize profit, but to maximize the satisfaction of our guests, and therefore profit will come as a result. The proof that our philosophy is correct is that we are also satisfied with the financial results achieved in the first year of our hospitality journey, and we are especially proud of the reviews and feedback of our guests, so in the first year of our hotel business we have an average score of 5 on Google and on Booking.com it’s 9.7. 🙂
